Touch a Truck returns to the Dickson Municipal Airport on Saturday, October 3, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., giving families an up-close look at the vehicles, equipment, and community partners that help keep Dickson moving.

Children and adults will have the chance to explore an exciting lineup of vehicles and meet some of the people who operate them. For young visitors who always want to know what is inside a work truck, how large equipment looks from the driver's seat, or what local crews use on the job, Touch a Truck turns that curiosity into a hands-on community experience.

A quieter first hour

The event's sensory-friendly hour will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. During this time, participating vehicles will be asked to avoid horns, sirens, loud engine demonstrations, and flashing lights so guests can explore in a calmer environment.

A sensory room will also be available throughout the event. The room will provide a quiet space for guests who become overstimulated or simply need time away from the activity to pause, regroup, and return when they are ready. Families are welcome to use the space as needed.

These accommodations are intended to make the event easier to enjoy for guests with sensory sensitivities and for families who benefit from a more predictable and lower-stimulation start to the day. Families who want the quietest experience are encouraged to arrive in time for the 10 a.m. opening.

Parking and transportation

Guests should follow event signs to the designated parking area. Shuttle buses will transport guests between parking and the event. An accessible bus will be available for guests with mobility needs.

Families should allow a little extra time for parking, boarding, and transportation, particularly if they plan to attend the sensory-friendly hour. A labeled parking map will be shared before the event to help guests identify parking and shuttle locations.

Food and cool treats

Families can make a day of it with food and treats available for purchase. Smith Bros. Hotdogs will be serving hot dogs, the Humane Society will have food for sale, and Kona Ice will be onsite to help guests cool down.
