FIREFIGHTER

 

The City of Dickson is accepting applications for the position of firefighter. 


Applicants must be 18 years of age at time of hire, have a GED or high school diploma, must be able to pass a drug/alcohol screening, complete physical and psychological examination as outlined by NFPA, as well as background check. Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license. A record free from habitual use of drugs or intoxicants, felony convictions, and misdemeanors involving dishonesty or false statements.


No training or experience is required to apply. 

The department will provide paid training and certification. 

If hired, firefighters that are not AEMT certified must pass and be licensed within 24 months of their hire date. Must also complete and pass an approved fire academy.

The following are the salaries as of July 2023:

Recruit (0-12 months with no experience/certifications)  $45,819.42

Firefighter Prob. (1 year service, pass academy and FFI commission)   $46,965.68

Firefighter I (2 years’ service, FFII commission and AEMT) $50,249.56

Firefighter II (top out, 5 years with other certifications) $63,230.18

Lateral FF (Must have AEMT and passed an approved academy) $50,249.56

(If lateral has at least 4 years of creditable service) $54,122.06

 

Qualified applicants will be invited to take a written test and a pass/fail physical ability test.

Applications may be picked up at Fire Station 1 Monday thru Friday 7:00 am until 3:00 pm.
