The City of Dickson Parks & Recreation Department is dedicated to creating safe, welcoming spaces and meaningful programs that bring our community together. From neighborhood parks and athletic facilities to camps, events, and seasonal programming, our goal is to support healthy lifestyles, connection, and quality of life for residents of all ages.
We believe parks are more than places to play—they’re where memories are made, friendships grow, and community happens. Our team works year-round to maintain our facilities, offer engaging programs, and host events that reflect the needs and values of the Dickson community.

PARK FACILITIES
The City of Dickson Parks & Recreation Department maintains a wide range of parks and facilities designed to serve residents of all ages and interests. Our facilities include athletic fields and courts, playgrounds, trails, picnic areas, community spaces, and specialty amenities such as splash pads, dog parks, and event venues. These spaces support everyday recreation, organized sports, community programs, and special events, helping provide safe, accessible, and welcoming places for the community to gather and stay active.
J. Dan Buckner Park
Located off Highway 70 West near Weaver Drive, this park offers a wide variety of recreational amenities, including lighted baseball/softball and soccer fields, tennis courts, and a multi-purpose field. Visitors will also find concession stands with restrooms, picnic areas, a covered picnic pavilion, and multiple parking areas.
Additional features include a lighted walking/running track, playground with safety surfacing, batting cages with pitching machines, an 18-hole disc golf course, a large fishing lake with natural walking trail, and a 60-acre wildlife area. The park also includes a Community Nature Trail and Certified Arboretum, with a tree inventory available at the Park Office.
Lester Speyer Community Complex
Located on Tennsco Drive off Highway 47 East, this park offers a wide range of recreational amenities. It is home to the Tennsco Community Center, a 7,600-square-foot facility featuring a covered entry, flexible seating, stage, sound system, parquet floor, and a full kitchen, along with indoor and outdoor restrooms and parking for up to 300 vehicles. Reservations are available through the Park Office.
The park also includes four adult softball fields with regulation fencing and electric scoreboards, two lighted basketball courts, six tennis courts, three pickleball courts, restrooms, and a large playground with modern equipment.
Tom Waychoff Memorial Park
Located at the corner of Main Street and College Street
Tom Waychoff Memorial Park is named in memory of Mr. Tom Waychoff who served as Dickson City Councilman, Mayor of Dickson, CEO/President of the Dickson County Chamber of Commerce, and City Administrator.
Holland Park
This park was established in 2001. It was established in honor of Mr. D.G. Holland and Mrs. Blanche Holland, who donated a sum of their estate to the City of Dickson for this purpose. We also reserve this park for weddings, reunions etc. For more information contact the Park Office.
Luther Lake
The City of Dickson Parks Department oversees Luther Lake, a 14 acre man-made lake popular for fishing and wildlife viewing as well as walking and running.
Skate Park
With a ribbon-cutting ceremony on April 2, 2022, the City of Dickson officially opened its newest park, the Dickson Skate Park. Located behind Dickson Fire Department Station #1 on Church Street, the Skate Park offers unique opportunities for skateboarders, skaters and bicyclists in a course designed and built by Spohn Ranch of California.
Lakeview Park / City Lake
Lakeview Park is where we hold our annual Easter Egg Hunt. This park overlooks City Lake which is a 27 acre manmade lake that includes a handicap accessible fishing pier and boat ramp. It is also equipped with benches for those who just like to relax and read a good book. Lakeview Park can be reserved for parties and other events. Contact the Park Office at 615-446-1721.
Henslee Park
Come enjoy the City’s newest park at 800 Highway 70 West, the former site of the Dickson Country Club. Henslee Park features more than 4 miles of walking, running, and biking trails, a 4,000-square-foot splash pad, and a 25,000-square-foot playground with inclusive and unique features. The park opened in June 2023.

Henslee Dog Park
Located just inside the main entrance off Henslee Drive, the Henslee Park Dog Park is a fully fenced, 350-foot-long area with separate spaces for small and large dogs. Each section offers room to run off leash and includes water features, agility elements, benches, shade, picnic areas, and waste stations.
The dog park has its own parking area and is located on the former country club driving range. It is open daily from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. and is free to use.
Dogs are only permitted off leash inside the Dog Park. Dogs are not allowed in the Splash Pad or Playground areas but are welcome on leash throughout the rest of the park. Visitors are asked to be courteous, keep gates closed, and clean up after their pets using the provided waste stations.

Indoor, Outdoor and Athletic Field Rentals
The City of Dickson offers a variety of park facilities available for rent, including pavilions, athletic fields, and select indoor and outdoor spaces. Facility rentals help ensure fair access and allow Parks & Recreation staff to coordinate scheduling, maintenance, and event needs. Reservations and requirements vary by location and type of use, and advance planning is recommended for organized activities, events, or gatherings.

Rental Cancelation Policy
FACILITY RENTAL CANCELLATION POLICY
30 days or more prior to reservation: a full refund of deposit & rental fee will be issued.
Less than 30 days prior to reservation: Facility rental fee will not be refunded. Deposit will be refunded
Post Reservation: If the facility is reserved and not used, no refund for the facility rental fee will be issued. Deposit will be refunded.
Hardship Refunds: Hardship refunds may be available due to illness, injury, or other special circumstances. All requests for a hardship refund need to requested in writing, and will be granted on a case-by-case basis by the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board. Documentation (i.e. doctor’s note may be required)
Park Food Truck Permit
Food trucks planning to operate in City of Dickson parks must obtain the appropriate permit to operate within city limits through City Hall before applying for permission to operate in a park. Once city permitting is secured, food truck owners should contact Parks & Recreation to complete the additional park-specific approval process. This helps ensure compliance with City requirements and allows staff to coordinate location, timing, and park operations.

Documentation Needed
If you are planning on renting one of our facilities to host a vndor event or fundraiser you must present a certificate of insurance naming the City of Dickson as the secondary insured. Contact your insurance agent for information on what they require.

Can I host a birthday party at the splash pad at Henslee Park?List Item 1
Yes, however, the splash pad pavilion is first come first serve. You may also set up a small popup tent and chairs on the NATURAL grass just off of the play area. Remember to please pickup all of your garbage and leave it better than you found it.

How do I reserve the Tennsco Community Center?List Item 2

When will the splash pad open/close?
We plan on opening the splash pad for the 2026 season on March 30 (weather permitting). It will close October 19, 2026.

The City of Dickson partners with local athletic organizations that use our parks and facilities to provide structured sports opportunities for youth. These leagues manage their own registration, schedules, teams, and program operations.
