ASSISTANT CHIEF
RICHARD GREER
Chief Greer began his career with the Dickson Fire Department in 1990, and was appointed Fire Chief for the City of Dickson on December 9, 2009 and brings over 25 years of experience to the position.
He previously held the positions of Operations Commander, Lieutenant and Sergeant. In 2001 he obtained his A.A.S degree in Fire Science. Chief Greer is a member of the International Association of Fire Chiefs (IAFC), Tennessee Fire Chiefs Association (TFCA), and the National Association of Fire Investigators (NAFI). He currently serves on the Fire Science Advisory Board for Volunteer State Community College.
Through the years, Chief Greer has been actively involved with the youth in the community. He has volunteered time as a coach of various sports. Involvement with the community’s youth is something he holds close to his heart. If you know Chief Greer, you realize his family is very important to him. He enjoys spending quality time with his wonderful wife Kristen, to whom he has been married for over 22 years. Chief Greer and Kristen have one son, Blake.
Chief Greer is the recipient of the Medal of Valor and the Education Ribbon (Associates Degree).
MEDAL OF VALOR
The highest medal that can be achieved. The medal is red (courage), white (purity), and blue (trust).
The Medal of Valor may be awarded to a member who performs a personal act in a courageous manner, on duty or off, in which the person is placed in a life threatening position to save the life of another while engaged in the mitigation of a fire, medical emergency, rescue, hazardous materials incident or other type of response.

BRENT HAM
Ham began his career as a volunteer firefighter with the Dickson Fire Department in 2003 and was hired full-time September 18, 2006.
He served as a firefighter before being promoted to Lieutenant in 2014 and served for eight years.
In 2023 he advanced to his current role as Training Captain for the department, where he leads training, mentorship and professional development for the department’s personnel.
Chief Ham completed the Advanced Emergency Medical Technician program at Volunteer State Community College and earned an Associate Degree in Fire Science from Columbia
Southern University.
He is currently pursuing his Bachelor’s Degree in Fire Administration,
furthering his commitment to leadership and excellence in the fire service.
He also holds multiple certifications, including Firefighter I and II, Fire Apparatus Operator, Fire Instructor I and II, Airport Firefighter, Fire Officer 4, Incident Safety Officer, Hazardous Materials Technician, multiple technical rescue credentials and American Heart Association CPR
Instructor.
His dedication and skill earned recognition as the City of Dickson Firefighter of the Year in 2011 and the honor of receiving the City of Dickson Medal of Valor.
Tennessee Gov. Bill Lee appointed Chief Ham to the Commission of Fire Fighting Personnel Standards and Education Board as a Fire Commissioner in 2025, reflecting both his expertise and commitment to advancing the fire service across the state.
A graduate of Dickson County High School, Chief Ham is a member of Walnut Street Church of Christ and enjoys watching and coaching his children in various sports activities.
He and wife Whitney Perales Ham, an Emergency Room nurse at Horizon Medical Center, are proud parents
of four children.
