From birthday parties and family reunions to team gatherings and community events, City of Dickson Parks & Recreation facilities offer flexible, affordable spaces for all kinds of occasions. Whether you’re planning something small or coordinating a larger event, knowing what to expect ahead of time can help everything run smoothly.

All facility reservations are coordinated through the City of Dickson Parks & Recreation office. Reservations are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis and are not confirmed until the required application and fees are submitted. If you’re unsure which space best fits your event, Parks staff can help you review availability and options before booking.

Rental Options and Pricing Empty heading

The City offers several rental spaces throughout our parks system, with pricing based on residency and facility type.

The Tennsco Community Center is available for indoor events and requires a refundable $500 deposit. Rental rates are $300 for City of Dickson residents, $400 for Dickson County residents, and $500 for out-of-county renters. The deposit is returned after the event once the facility has been inspected and confirmed to be left in good condition.

Outdoor pavilion rentals are available at Lakeview Pavilion, Buckner Pavilion, Holland Park, and Waychoff Park. City of Dickson residents may reserve these pavilions at no cost, while all other renters pay $50 per day. Pavilion rentals run from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. and include use of the reserved pavilion space only.

Ballfields may also be rented when available. When field lights are required, the rate is $25 per hour. Availability may be limited due to league play or Parks programming, so advance planning is encouraged.

Food trucks wishing to sell food within City of Dickson parks must obtain a Parks permit prior to operating. The cost is $20 per day, plus a background check fee of $16 or more, depending on the provider. Food trucks must also be fully permitted through City Hall before setting up in any park location.

If your event includes vendors or requires street closures, additional approvals are required. Event organizers must first work with Planning and Zoning to secure the appropriate permits and permissions before Parks & Recreation can approve facility or park use. This step helps ensure public safety and proper coordination across departments.

Expectations for Renters Empty heading

Parks facilities are shared community spaces, and we ask all renters to help keep them clean, safe, and welcoming. Renters are responsible for supervising guests, following posted rules, and leaving the facility in clean condition at the end of the reserved time. Events must start and end within the scheduled reservation window to allow staff to prepare the space for other users.

Damage to facilities, failure to follow rules, or exceeding reserved times may result in loss of deposit, additional fees, or denial of future rental requests.

Summer Day Camps: How Activity Tracks Work

Summer Day Camps with City of Dickson Parks & Recreation are designed to give kids a fun, active, and well-rounded experience—while giving parents peace of mind. One of the ways we do that is through activity tracks, which allow campers to explore different interests throughout the day without being locked into a single activity all week. This structure keeps camp engaging, flexible, and developmentally appropriate for a wide range of ages and interests.

What Are Activity Tracks?

Activity tracks are themed blocks of time built into the camp day. Rather than doing the same activity all day, campers rotate through different types of programming that may include outdoor play, creative projects, group games, enrichment activities, and structured social time.

Tracks help ensure campers stay active and engaged while allowing staff to adjust activities based on weather, group size, and camper needs.

A Sample Camp Day May Look Like

To help parents understand how activity tracks work, below is an example schedule for explanation purposes only. Actual camp schedules will vary by location, age group, and week.

Example Schedule:

8:00–9:00 a.m. — Arrival, check-in, and free play

9:00–10:15 a.m. — Activity Track 1 (outdoor games or sports)

10:30–11:45 a.m. — Activity Track 2 (creative or enrichment activities)

12:00–12:45 p.m. — Lunch and supervised downtime

1:00–2:15 p.m. — Activity Track 3 (nature activities or themed programming)

2:30–3:30 p.m. — Activity Track 4 (group games or special activities)

3:30–4:00 p.m. — Wrap-up and pickup

Again, this schedule is only meant to show how activity tracks may be structured. The actual daily schedule will look different.

Camp Schedule & Supervision

Camp runs Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Campers are supervised at all times by Parks & Recreation staff, with safety, engagement, and positive behavior being top priorities throughout the day.

Camp Pricing

Camp fees are charged per camp session, not per day. Each camp session requires its own registration and fee.

Pricing is based on residency, and discounts may be available for families registering multiple children. Specific camp dates, fees, and availability will be shared as registration opens.

Why Activity Tracks Benefit Campers

Activity tracks allow campers to experience a variety of activities while preventing fatigue or boredom. This structure supports physical activity, creativity, social skills, and teamwork—all within a predictable routine that helps kids feel comfortable and confident.

Tracks also give staff flexibility to adapt programming based on weather, special guests, field trips, or camper needs.

The City of Dickson Splash Pad is a favorite summer destination for families, and with a little planning, your visit can be safe, fun, and stress-free. Whether you’re stopping by after school, meeting friends, or spending the afternoon cooling off, we want everyone to have a great experience.

The splash pad is designed as a family-friendly water play area, and children must be actively supervised by an adult at all times. While Parks & Recreation staff are on site to monitor the area, enforce rules, and help when needed, they are not lifeguards and cannot replace parental supervision.

To help keep the splash pad clean, safe, and enjoyable for everyone, we ask visitors to follow these guidelines:

Children should wear appropriate swimwear, and swim diapers are required for children who are not fully potty trained. Shoes with hard soles, bikes, scooters, skateboards, and other wheeled items are not allowed in the splash pad area. For safety reasons, running, rough play, or climbing on equipment is not permitted.

Food, drinks, and glass containers are not allowed on the splash pad surface. We encourage families to use nearby picnic tables or pavilion areas for snacks and meals. Please also remember that pets are not allowed in the splash pad area.

For everyone’s safety, children who appear ill, have open wounds, or are experiencing symptoms such as fever or diarrhea should not use the splash pad. These rules help protect all visitors and keep the water systems operating properly.

Seasonal Parks & Recreation staff are present to help keep the area clean, address concerns, and step in when safety issues arise. We appreciate visitors following staff instructions and helping us create a welcoming environment for all families.

Before heading out, be sure to check posted hours and weather conditions. On busy days, patience and courtesy go a long way in making the experience enjoyable for everyone.

The City of Dickson Parks & Recreation Department is now accepting applications for seasonal employees, and these positions are a great opportunity for teens and young adults looking for meaningful, active work in a fun, community-focused environment.

Seasonal staff play an important role in keeping our parks and programs running smoothly. Employees may work at the Splash Pad, day camps, special events, and other Parks & Recreation programs throughout the season. This is a hands-on job that takes place outdoors, often around both children and adults, and requires a strong sense of responsibility and awareness.

Seasonal employees should be prepared to help keep facilities clean, assist with daily operations, and ensure the safety of park visitors when needed. Shifts may fall anytime between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m., and employees must be able to work a minimum of 30 hours per pay period. Pay for these positions starts at $12.50 per hour.

We’re looking for individuals who are dependable, proactive, and able to think for themselves. Strong communication skills are important, as seasonal staff regularly interact with the public, coworkers, and supervisors. The ability to follow rules, stay attentive, and step in when help is needed is essential. Previous work experience is helpful but not required—this can be an excellent first job for teens or a solid seasonal role for young adults.

Above all, we’re looking for people who enjoy working with others, take pride in their work, and are willing to help create a safe, welcoming experience for everyone who uses our parks.
